Kurdistan Foundation Supports Over 40,000 Beneficiaries During Ramadan 2026 Despite Regional Instability

During Ramadan 2026, the Kurdistan Foundation reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to humanitarian service across the Kurdistan Region, continuing its operations despite a period marked by regional instability and missile attacks, and supported over 40,000 direct beneficiaries all across Kurdistan.

At the heart of this year’s campaign was the Ramadan Tent in Erbil, located on Runaki Street. Operating from the first to the final day of Ramadan, the tent provided a consistent source of daily meals and essential support to hundreds of individuals. More than a food distribution point, the space evolved into a symbol of solidarity and unity, offering a sense of connection and stability during a particularly challenging period.

Over the course of the month, the Ramadan Tent served more than 350 individuals each evening, delivering a total of over 11,000 meals. This sustained effort ensured that vulnerable populations had reliable access to food throughout the holy month.

Complementing this initiative, the Kurdistan Foundation implemented a large-scale food distribution program, reaching families across the Kurdistan Region. A total of 2,300 food boxes were distributed, with a significant final-phase delivery of 1,300 boxes to communities in Harir and Sulaimani. These distributions played a critical role in alleviating economic pressures faced by many households during Ramadan.

Beyond direct humanitarian assistance, the Kurdistan Foundation placed a strong emphasis on community engagement. Through a series of weekly Ramadan Diwan discussions, held in the presence of its founder, H.E. Areen Barzani, the Kurdistan Foundation brought together influential youth, distinguished authors, religious leaders, members of the Peshmerga forces, and representatives of the disabled community. Across five sessions, these gatherings created a platform for meaningful dialogue on pressing social issues, fostering conversations around resilience, civic responsibility, and youth empowerment.

In Duhok, the Foundation extended its impact through a collaborative Ramadan initiative at Kavin Bazar. In partnership with local platforms, this activation space integrated multiple community-focused services. Jobs.KRD supported job seekers through CV development and employment guidance, Empower.KRD provided a marketplace for local artists to showcase and sell their work, and Volunteer.KRD engaged youth by promoting volunteerism and expanding participation in community initiatives. This multi-dimensional approach reflected the broader vision of combining humanitarian aid with long-term community development.

As part of its outreach to vulnerable groups, the Foundation also distributed 600 toys to orphanages across Erbil, Sulaimani, and Duhok, ensuring that children in need were included in the spirit of giving and celebration during Ramadan.

Through the integration of humanitarian relief, youth engagement, and inclusive community dialogue, the Kurdistan Foundation continues to demonstrate that impactful work must persist, especially in times of uncertainty.
