The Kurdistan Foundation, in coordination with the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC) of the KRG’s Ministry of Interior, has deployed urgent assistance and volunteer teams to support response efforts for communities impacted by the recent floods in the Chamchamal District.
As part of the emergency response, the Foundation has distributed essential supplies, including kerosene and kerosene heaters, to more than 500 affected families. These efforts aim to address immediate needs and provide relief to households facing harsh conditions in the aftermath of the floods.
In a statement delivered during a press briefing in the Kurdistan Foundation office on 10 December 2025, Dr. Yara barzanji, the Director of Programs and Partnerships, reaffirmed the Kurdistan Foundation’s commitment to stand with the community during this critical moment.

This is a natural disaster affecting our people, and our communities,” Dr. Yara also added “On behalf of His Excellency Areen Barzani, the Founder of the Kurdistan Foundation, we affirm our commitment to be here, present and active, for as long as needed.”
Field teams continue to work alongside the JCC and local authorities to assess needs, deliver aid, and assist displaced families. Volunteer groups have also been mobilized to support ongoing response activities, ensuring timely and effective assistance for residents.
The Kurdistan Foundation will remain in close coordination with the Ministry of Interior’s agencies and other relevant stakeholders to help mitigate the impact of this natural disaster. The Kurdistan Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting displaced families and flood-affected communities throughout the recovery process and stands ready to expand its assistance as required.
