The Kurdistan Foundation supported the organization of the Asian Continental Chess Championship 2025 for players aged 50 and above, which was hosted in Erbil for the first time. The championship took place at the Erbil International Hotel from 4 to 14 October 2025 and brought together senior chess players from across the Asian continent.
Within the framework of its coordination with the Iraqi Chess Federation and the Khanzad Chess Club, the Kurdistan Foundation acted as a partner and co-sponsor of the tournament. The event represented an important addition to Erbil’s growing calendar of international cultural and intellectual activities.
The championship reflected the Kurdistan Foundation’s commitment to empowering diverse segments of society through initiatives that promoted education, intellectual engagement, and lifelong learning. By supporting a tournament focused on experienced players, the Foundation highlighted the role of chess as a tool for mental development and cross-generational exchange.
The Asian Continental Chess Championship 2025 positioned Erbil as a regional hub for international sporting and cultural events and reinforced the Kurdistan Foundation’s role in advancing education, innovation, and cultural awareness across the Kurdistan Region.
