On January 15th, 2026, The Kurdistan Foundation held a high-level meeting with Dr. Haval Abubakir, Governor of Sulaymaniyah, to explore collaborative initiatives aimed at advancing education, climate action, and sustainable development in the region.
During the meeting, Dr. Abubakir reaffirmed his strong support for the Kurdistan Foundation’s mission to empower students and enhance youth capacity building. He highlighted the importance of engaging young people as key drivers of positive change and long-term development in Kurdistan.
Dr. Yara Barzanji, Director of the Kurdistan Foundation, expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality extended by the Governor and his team. She emphasized that the Kurdistan Foundation remains committed to serving local communities and contributing to nation-building efforts across the entire region.

The visit concluded with the Kurdistan Foundation delegation visiting Arin Secondary School for Boys in Sulaymaniyah, one of the schools partially renovated by the Kurdistan Foundation after it was damaged by floods last month. The delegation’s visit highlighted Kurdistan Foundation’s ongoing commitment to supporting education and rebuilding resilient communities in the region.
