The Founder of the Kurdistan Foundation, Areen Barzani, received Rawand Naif, a resilient Yezidi survivor of ISIS captivity, in a meeting that underscored the Foundation’s continued commitment to inclusion, solidarity, and long-term community empowerment across the Kurdistan Region.
The visit served as a moment of recognition for the strength and resilience of survivors, while also reaffirming the importance of collective responsibility in supporting communities affected by conflict and violence. During the meeting, discussions focused on the role of institutions in fostering recovery through education, skills development, and access to opportunities, particularly for youth from vulnerable and marginalized communities.
The Kurdistan Foundation emphasized its unwavering commitment to serving all communities across Kurdistan, without distinction. Central to this mission is the development of young people across multiple sectors, with a strong focus on vocational skills training and language development as pathways to dignity, self-reliance, and sustainable livelihoods.
Through initiatives such as JOBS.KRD, the Kurdistan Foundation works to bridge gaps between education and employment, ensuring that youth, especially those impacted by conflict, have access to the tools and training needed to build stable futures.
The meeting highlighted the Foundation’s broader vision: to transform resilience into opportunity, and to ensure that the voices and potential of survivors and youth alike are supported through inclusive, practical, and future-oriented programs.
